Irans Shazand refinery quadruples daily LNG output
TEHRAN (Tasnim) The managing director of Imam Khomeini Refinery of Shazand in Central Iran announced that the facility's production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) has reached 2000 tons per day.

With the implementation of the development projects of Shazand refinery, the LNG production has been raised from 500 tons per day (TPD) to 2000 TPD, which means the output has quadrupled, Ali Shirazizadeh told reporters on Wednesday.

Commenting on the radical overhaul of 4 units of the Shazand refinerys development plan, he said that the overhaul was carried out within 2 months in distillation, naphtha hydrotreater & octanizer, kerosene hydrotreating and isomerization units.

Despite the current sanctions against Iran, all of the needed parts for overhauling the units were provided on time and the units came on stream 8 days before the schedule, he stated.

He went on to say that the development plan of the Shazand refinery has increased gasoline production capacity, saying that 16 million liters of Euro-5 gasoline is produced per day.

Iran has significantly expanded the range and volume of its petrochemical production over the past few years.

The Islamic Republic, which holds the worlds third-largest proven oil reserves and the largest natural gas reserves, is determined to become the biggest petrochemical producer in the Middle East.
